Hello Paul
I’m not commenting (as yet!) on your monthly reflections, but blogging to express my appreciation for the session you took tonight at Hillside Community Church. I found it practical, insightful, and my prayer is that we will draw on your teaching to build a firm foundation for a Spirit-directed, biblically based preaching system into the future.
Blessings on your ministry.
Thanks for taking the time to jot a note, Anthony. I loved being with you. The discussion as a group – and individually! – was fascinating. Whet my appetite to work with other churches in this area of planning the preaching ministry. Every blessing to you.
Hi Paul,
Loving the updates. I’m just wondering whether the Langham-at-large posts could be made more accessible on the website? Maybe something on the front page to indicate the arrival of a new post? Or an RSS enabled feed which appears in the main blog stream?
In Christ.
Been having an ongoing conversation with one of our creche workers at church about preaching… not that she preaches to the 2 and 3 year olds. But one thing she has said which i have been reflecting on lately is that good preaching is not about what we should do, but about who we are called to be in Christ.
Thanks for the posts
I am not sure I fully understand, Michael. If the comment is simply stating the importance of being someone alongside doing something – then, yes, what she is saying is important. Our character and attitude are so critical in any ministry.
However by its very essence preaching is doing something. It is speaking. It is some thing we do, not something we are. So I guess I do not understand fully the point being made.
